It would be nice to have these features

1) An oversize package charge applied to certain items.

2) An Heavy Freight charge to heavy items

3) Im all about being able to offer "free shipping" but there are limitations to that for certain items.

4) Why cant you add free shipping on an order total? If you put in a custom on specific items, I have a couples item id like to have a separate flat rate for, but it dont let you put a Free Shipping in the custom when the order reaches a certain total. Id like to ship a couple specific items at $5.99 and when they order $35 worth its free. Just like the rest of the items in default. It make the shipping charges a nightmare for customers. They add an Item that ships for $5.99, then want to add a different item for $25.99, then the charge is added for both when it should be free for $35 and more...its confusing. Is this why you have a coupon? I think its ridiculous to make customers jump thru hoops. Most of my customers are 50-70 and have enough trouble using the website.

Will a coupon take off all shipping regardless of the item combination if the order total is $35 or more? Because that looks like it may be the only way.

I would like to take a closer look at your current shipping setup so I can get a better idea of the customer experience. Can you please post a link to your website, and also provide a couple examples of items that would be considered oversize?

Can you also please clarify the scenario you are referring to here, "They add an Item that ships for $5.99, then want to add a different item for $25.99, then the charge is added for both when it should be free for $35 and more...its confusing." Is the $5.99 and $25.99 the cost of shipping, or the cost of the actual items?

My fishing rods or rod reel combos that are 1 pc have a $15 oversized charge. It works because they are over the $35.

My default shipping charges a different rate depending on state. Montana is $6.99 and New York is $9.99 both free if over $35.

I want to have a flat $5.99 charge on my luscious leeches. But also free if over $35 sale. Problems if you buy a $15.99 size of leeches then go get a different category item or items for say $20. It'll charge $5.99 and then add the default shipping charge.

We need a entire sale $35 or whatever you want to make it as free shipping option.

Coupons for free shipping are useless because you can't set a entire sale minimum. It'll do free shipping on everything.
