Skip Item Details Screen toggled on but doesn't work on Square Retail app

I have "Skip item details screen" toggled on some items with multiple variations. The feature works as expected on the Square POS app, but not on the Square Retail app:

On the Square POS app, I no longer see the item details screen when clicking those items (expected, good)
On the Square Retail app, I still see the item details screen when clicking those items (unexpected, bad)

How can it be fixed so the feature works as intended on the Square Retail app?
