thread How to create cocktail recipes that pull accurately from inventory in Orders, Menu Items, Catalog & Fulfilment

Hello! I can't seem to find advice on how to build cocktail recipes in Square that will pull an accurate amount of inventory in Square. I think I have to use the bundle option? For example, is there a way to create a 1.5oz Vodka option button that will pull 1.5oz out of inventory? Is there a certain way to set up the item on the backend so that the button the bartenders select corresponds to it? And going further down the rabbit hole, is there a way to have multiple options for a cocktail that can account for a 1.5oz or 2oz pour? Just want to make sure that what the bartenders ring pulls inventory accurately. Thanks for any guidance!

Hey there @Abergner43.. So, let's save you some time here. Currently the Square ecosystem does not have a robust, full-featured food & beverage inventory system. The inventory system it has is geared to the retail environment. There have been a few beta tests that have attempted to start addressing this, but as far as I can ascertain they haven't gotten very far. F&B inventory is highly complicated and uses a ton of server resources. One of the biggest issues is the we not only need item-level inventory, but most of us need robust modifier-level inventory tracking. That's why all of them come with higher monthly subscription costs. That being said....

Square has, I believe, partnered with MarketMan to offer F&B inventory that is tightly integrated with Square, at a discounted price over their traditional product. I don't know a lot about that integration, so I'm going to tag @kristen, an administrator here. She can point you in the right direction.

Also, here is a link to search results in the Square App Marketplace for restaurant inventory. There are two apps here that I would recommend checking out -- Growyze and Restoke. A word of warning, though. Setting these things up is not for the faint of heart. It requires a lot of planning and forethought in order to set up these tools to your best advantage. Myself, I have a rather complicated spreadsheet that I use for my ice cream shop. It tracks inventory down to the modifier level, and gets its input from a few Square AI queries. I tell you that because I want you to be very aware that the good ones come with a significant financial commitment -- usually of $100+ per month. If I didn't have my spreadsheet that does the job, I would subscribe to one of these, for sure. They're worth it for the insights they give you into your operations.
