Accepting Online Pre-Orders without artificially adding stock

How do I configure an item for Pre-Order so that a customer can purchase that item online without artificially adding stock to the item in order to make it purchasable online? Right now the only way I've been able to make it work is by adding stock to the item, but then it is inflating my inventory with items I don't actually have in stock yet.

@JohnDHamilton unfortunately this isn't possible today. You can either turn the stock tracking toggle off while the item is available for preorder, to allow unlimited quantities today. Or, you can add inventory to be sold.

We're certainly looking at this as a feature request to be added on our roadmap, though.

Turning off stock tracking on the pre-order items worked perfectly! Appreciate the response. I'm all set now.
