Splitting inventory between locations

Please direct me if this has already been answered. I saw a few threads but they were old so thought things might have changed.

We are opening a second location and would like to be able to split inventory between the 2. Say we purchase something to resale from Faire and the item is already linked to our Square inventory. I can edit the item and assign it to a location but can I easily split the order of mugs between the 2 shops?

Or do I make a duplicate item and choose the location and enter the number of items that will be at that location.

If you've got two locations setup in Square, you can treat your main location like a warehouse. Receive your full stock there, then just transfer the product from your first location to your second. We have three locations setup: Our Domestic Arrivals Store, our International Departure Store and a Warehouse. We receive everything into Warehouse (and do mail order from there) then transfer product out to the locations as needed.

Hi-

I have multiple locations set up but when I click Actions I do not see the option to Transfer stock.

Suggestions?

Transferring stock is available with Square for Retail - I'd like to confirm that that's the app you are using when transferring stock.

The Retail app is green and white whereas the Point of Sale app is gray and white.

Yes, I see the difference but we are such a small shop I would have to upgrade to Plus and that's $90 a month. It's not worth it. I'll just make a work around.

For Square...

How about adding a location for free, like a substation from a primary location so we can add this to say a stock room or warehouse. It would be just for situations like this. We would not be able to sell out of a sublocation but we can inventory track and transfer to our other locations. Doesn't seem fair to pay for a location that us retailers do not sell out of. There is no ROI fro either of us other than a subscription fee. Should be included. He is right, adding another location is expensive to just hold stock.
