We have received an email in with false links asking us to check a bank transfer check your email

It’s likely that this is spoof email and not that Square has been hacked.

A good reminder to all of us to be vigilant about what lands in our inboxes.

You can forward the email to Square to have a look at via spoof@squareup.com

It does sound to be a spoof email so yes, please forward it to spoof@squareup.com so our teams can take a look. Please do not include any other information in the email you forward (including usernames and passwords).

If you did provide any personal information, please let us know right away. In addition to alerting our teams, follow the steps below to help us secure your account:

Navigate to Account and Settings to change your Square account password.

Enable 2-step verification.

Change your password to your email.
