Accepting own voucher as payment

I have just migrated to Square for Retail and need to know how to make a part/full payment with our own gift cards.

These gift cards, we have already had payment on, so we just need reduce the cost of the bill.

or we have a need to add a zero value voucher as payment .

Just to confirm are you migrating external gift cards from Square or just Square-issued gift cards from Square Point of Sale to Square for Retail?

we want to use our own produced gift cards and loyalty cards to apply towards payment .

after 10 hot drinks, they get a free one.

we sell gift vouchers so want to apply part/all of this as payment

We have two separate processes for migrating both loyalty rewards and external gift cards into Square.

Both need to be imported by CSV file. Here's a brief overview:

Loyalty:

Here’s how the migration process will work: you’ll provide us with a .CSV file that lists the phone numbers and corresponding accrued points with your previous/current program.

Give cards:

Please provide us with a CSV file that lists your previously issued gift cards.
Once we receive this file, we'll upload the card data to your Square account.
Once the card data has been uploaded, you can redeem and check balances by manually entering the gift card number with the Square Point of Sale app.

Sorry, but I don't think you understand the situation.

it is NOT a matter of migrating both loyalty rewards and external gift cards into Square.

We are not big enough to afford the type of cards you are describing

Currently we have loyalty cards (we stamp the back of the card when the customer has a hot drink).

When they reach 10 stamps, they are entitled to one free hot drink.

We also have a monthly free-cake draw from the redeemed loyalty cards.

So, we want to be able to track these on the system adding the "loyalty card" as part payment. (but not as cash)

The other thing is, we sell our own Gift (paper) cards and want to be able to reduce the charge on the bill by some or all of the Gift card value. These are NOT from square.

It sounds like it will be more of a manual process then. We don't have a specific payment method that you can customize to say 'Loyalty' - but there are two options that may work (for both situations).

We have:

Other Gift Card or Certificate

Record a payment made using a third-party gift card or certificate.

Other Payment Types

Record a payment using another payment type.

You can write a note with these options referencing the loyalty reward/gift card.

There are some more details here. All of these options are available in Point of Sale and Square for Retail.

Hi Breffni

this still hasn't answer my question.

I need a simple way of taking an alternate method of payment for all or part of a Bill using our own Gift Vouchers.

So, when making a payment, we can have have "Cash, Card, GiftVoucher" as an easy entry for our Till operators.

(i.e. treat the GiftVoucher as another form of payment.

Any one else out threre that can tell us how to us our own "Gift Voucher" as full or part payment , same as cash (but need to differentiate)
