Setting up a customer Tab

Hi all, just installed 4 restaurant terminals this week, one question can we set up a Tab by capturing customer card information incase we need to charge it later.

Hi @NickHunter, thanks for your post and welcome to the Seller Community.

We don't have a direct way to create a tab with customers card details saved.

What you could do it use Open Tickets to create, edit and save orders on your Square Terminals.

To set up open tickets on your Square Terminal: More > Settings > Open Tickets.

Then use the Card on File function to save your customers’ payment card information and then apply the card to the sale at checkout.

To set up card on file on the Square Terminal: More > Customers > Create Customer

Thanks ALEGRA do we have to manually enter the customers card number or is the system able to read it using the card reader?

@NickHunter, the card details will need to be manually provided by the customer.

We don't have an automated way to this yet, I can see how that would be helpful and save time so I can definitely put it down as a feature request.
