Using a terminal independent of Square Restaurants

Hi, I have been installing all my new equipment today. I have 5 Square Terminals 4 of which are linked in to POS ipads behind my bar. I am wanting to have to 5th terminal operate as a stand alone device, like a classic card reader, no links to a till. I just want to be able to type the price in and show it to the customer for payment.

When I log in to the terminal I am given two options, Square for Restaurants or Square POS.

Neither option sends me in the direction of a 'POS'less terminal.

I know the the terminals can act independently as I have used them in the past in other venues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @MikeTownhouse - in both cases the POS can be used as a 'type in the price and pay' sort of situation.

Go for the standard POS and choose the 'keypad' option from the top of the screen.

It’s great to see you’ve already had some guidance on this from our Champion Sellers. Thanks @Sam_400º and @doc_choc!

I presume that you’ve already followed the advice, and you’re now using your Terminal in disconnected mode without issue. But I just wanted to drop an additional image into the thread for any other Sellers who might have the same query.

To process a custom amount sale on the Terminal, you’d simply want to select the Checkout option from far left of the lower navigation menu, then Keypad from the upper options.

If you’re not seeing these options, I’d recommend checking that your Terminal is fully up-to-date.
