Spent ages today working out hardware and setup needs, only to find this message below. Is this going to change anytime soon?

Note: For Square for Retail and Square for Restaurants Plus sellers - only the Socket Mobile SocketScan S700 and Socket Mobile 7Ci Bluetooth barcode scanners are compatible with the Square for Retail and Square for Restaurants app.

I'm sorry you've had a hard time finding information about compatible barcode scanners with Square for Retail. We're actively working on expanding the list of compatible devices with different hardware, and software options, and will be sure to share an update when additional models are added to the compatibility list.
