No option to add pages?

I am thinking of making the move from the regular Square POS app to the Square for Restaurants app. I have created a Menu, Display Groups, added Items etc. In the documentation regarding editing the POS layout it says:

"In the Edit grid panel, you can automatically adjust the tile size, sort your tiles, and add or delete pages."

Yet using Square Dashboard or the app to edit the grid I cannot see anywhere to add or delete a page? It also won't let me select the "Wide" size for the tiles for some reason. Can anyone please advise what the issue here is?

I'd be happy to help take a closer look into this with you!

To assist me better, could you provide some additional details about what happens when you select 'Edit' or try to select the 'Wide' tile size? Specifically, is the issue that nothing happens when you attempt these actions, or are you unable to see the option to select them at all?

Additionally, you mentioned that the behavior is the same on both your Dashboard and your Square for Restaurants app. Could you please confirm that Offline Mode is not currently enabled for payments?

There is simply no option to add pages anywhere on the POS edit window. The Wide button is simply greyed out. I can't select it at all. Offline mode is not currently enabled for payments.

The page break is underneath the top row of empty cells. If you add anything in the bottom section, it will create a new page.

If you add a display group to a new row by itself, does the wide option appear?

The wide button usually becomes greyed out when there isn’t enough space left in the row to extend the tile. If you move a display group to a new row with no other display groups or items on it, you should be able to widen the display group to cover two columns.

@ChillNL is spot on regarding the ability to add a new page! The page break line is quite faint, but it indicates that any tile added below that line will be on a new page. I’ve added a screenshot for reference.

Ok it seems they changed the "add page" function to "add more rows". Also I assumed that pages would be swiping left and right, like in the standard Square POS app, but it seems that this is up and down in the restaurant app. Seems like an odd inconsistency between the two apps IMO.

And yes the pages option was confusing as the support article says "add pages" but somewhere along the line they changed it to say "add more rows". Is there a reason why pages in Square for Restaurants is swiping up and down instead of swiping left to right like on the regular Square POS? Also Square POS has the page names up top that you can also tap on to jump to a page. It's bizarre that Square for Restaurants would lack this feature and IMO it makes Square POS the superior app in that regard.

Hi again @MrWellFed, we're glad to hear it! Thank you for keeping us in the loop!

The Square for Restaurants app has always used a swipe up/down function to navigate between pages, unlike the Square Point of Sale app. I’ve passed on your feedback about this, but I'm not currently aware of plans to change this setup.

However, I’ve reviewed our current Support Article instructions and flagged this with our team. They are aware and have assured me that updated steps for menu creation and layout will be available shortly.
