Subscription Plan Payment Link

I am attempting to set up a 6-month subscription to sell on my website (not the square provided site) utilizing a payment link.

I followed the instructions at this link https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7627-get-started-with-subscriptions-in-dashboard to create an item, a Plan, and associate the item to the Plan.

The Plan is set up as a six-month subscription with monthly payments.

When generating, and then following, the Payment Link created by the Plan, purchases are going through as one-time purchases instead of subscriptions.

Does anyone know how to correct this?

The best thing I could think of would be to divide the subscription into 6 equal payments and set a reminder to cancel the subscription 6 months after. The subscription and invoicing could use a rework
