Switch to Square Restaurants

I want to switch from square to square for restaurants. We use square register.

‘Has anyone done this? How do you make the switch? Do I lose my products? Any help would be appreciated

Here is what I can tell you as I am experimenting with the shift now.

1. You can use both apps at the same time on an ipad.

2. Your item catalog will be the same with the modifiers. They may behave differently in the square for restaurants app.

3. You will have to set up a new item grid that are called menus. The great thing here is that it is much improved over the pos app. I think the customization of the tiles and nesting behavior is superior, but it takes a little experimentation. Categories are same but not used the same in the restaurant app.

4. The app is fast and clean with no pictures, but all the functions are there just sometimes in different places.

5. Try the free version first and if you want some of the advance features I see it as being well worth it. The new pricing model if you have 1 busy location of 199 for all the extra things such as payroll and marketing monthly is a good buy.

That said, I am not sure how the square register behaves with the square for restaurants app as I am using ipads. I haven't scanned the restaurants page to see if it is compatible. But if you click on square for restaurants and enable the free version you have no risk of "messing up" your current set up.
