@dromesburg First, you’re very welcome. Happy to be of assistance.

As for your other question, anything is possible, within reason. First, I should point out that the Item Sales report will already give you flavor and/or size counts. You’ll get a line item for each variation that sold during the reporting period, and in the case I outlined each variation is a size/flavor combination.

If you truly want to have a different POS button for flavors, you can do this. In that case, instead of creating an item called Caramel, you’d create various items called “Caramel - Plain,” “Caramel - Chocolate,” etc. You wouldn’t really need option sets, since your only option is size. You can just create multiple variations, price them, and you’re done.

Just keep in mind that if you are only doing this for reporting purposes, you’ll get exactly the same information using either scenario. The only REAL benefit for having separate caramel items is to be able to have separate POS buttons with pictures.

Folks, I’ve researched and i am not finding the solution. I’ve also tried a few options, and can’t get it to work, so thank you in advance. I make 10 different flavors of caramels, in 3 different sizes.

i want to track them separately so i eventually know what flavors sell, and what sizes sell, how much i need to make, etc. For simplistic sake, let’s say the flavors I have are; Vanilla, Bourbon, Coffee, Minty, and sizes are 7 pieces $6.00, 15 pieces $13.00, 1/2 lb (19.99)

ive tried setting up an ITEM for each flavor, and a category for each size, as i have UPCs for each as well. I can’t seem to quite figure out under the VANILLA item, how to show each of the 3 sizes available, with each flavor size having its own UPC and price.

Really seems like i am over complicating this, however it doesn’t seem like i can find the correct clear cut steps to actually make this work. If i create a key for each Caramel flavor, and each price option with UPCs this really seems like an excessively long way around. Sincerely Dave

Hey there, @dromesburg. I think there is a pretty simple solution. Try this.

First, create an item called Caramels. Key description, and such.

You’ll see a section called Options. You’ll use this to create two option sets. Call the first one “Flavors” and add all of the flavors to its list. After you press Next you’ll be prompted to select which flavors apply to the item Caramals. Select All, then press Create x variations.

Go back and create a second option set called Size, and add all sizes to its list. Now, you’ll see a list of variations that combine all flavors with all sizes. Make sure all are selected and press the “Create x variations” button.

In your item variations list, you’ll see a list of 30 variations — one for each combination of flavor and size. You’ll need to set their individual selling prices, costs (if needed) etc. You will also want to set stock here if you have/need that.

Finish setting up the item and save it. Then go to your POS and you should see exactly what you want.

Anyway, option sets are here for this very purpose — to quickly set up lots of variations caused by sizes, colors, patterns, flavors, etc.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Chip, that is fantastic! Really amazed how the options work, and automatically create all of the variations, my mind was blown! Sincerely Thank You!

When I go to ADD to the register grid, my only available selection is CARAMELS, at the highest level. Is there anyway, since I have a number of flavors, how could I then have the FLAVOR option at the higher level where the GRID I could put Nostalgic tile, Butterscotch tile, Coffee tile, and then have the sizes listed under each flavor? I hope that makes sense! I don’t want to lose the ability to get the flavor and size count from reports. Chip once again, THANK YOU! Dave
