KDS Category Grouping

We are switching to using IPADS to ring in orders at the table today. Is there any way for KDS to group similar items? Like appetizers together and burgers together automatically? Prior our servers would do that when they rang in the orders. Thanks!

Hi @duffymahoney - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community👋

You can accomplish this by following these steps:

On Square KDS, select Devices > Kitchen Settings > Order settings.
Toggle on Combine identical items. Items with the same details will then be automatically combined into one line item.

I would like category grouping as an option. Not just identical items.

Any updates to this? My items are not grouping even though the group identical is on. I would also like category grouping (burgers at top, fries, side sauces, etc)

Gotcha! If they sent you over to the Seller Community then, most likely this is a feature request.

To appropriately send these to our product teams we’d love it if you'd submit this request on our Ideate page for Square KDS. Our team monitors these boards, and we triage them to measure needs. You can search the boards to see if this has been requested before and add your use case if so!

Any update on this? This is exactly what I’d like to see as well. Seems like a fairly simple addition.
