Square does have a coupon functionality located under the marketing section. I found a great video of the differences located here.

However, I’m right there with you on the limited options. I don’t think the coupon section will allow the exact scenario you want. For example, we want to do BOGO coupons but it’s very limited in that functionality and could use some improvements.

Combos are in BETA and couple see this possibly working for you but I suggest waiting for the regular release. You could combine the coupon function above with the new combos functionality. Your sandwich, side and drink would become the combo while the coupon could have a max and specific item assigned.

Alternatively and a possible workaround for now-

Create a Discount for the Coupon:

Go to Items > Discounts in your Square Dashboard.

Create a new discount and label it something like “Meal Combo Coupon - $15 Max.”

Set the discount type to "Fixed Amount" with a value of $15.

Restrict the Coupon to Applicable Items:

Create a new item category called “Meal Combo.”

Add the sandwich, side, and drink options to this category.

hope this helps!

Hi people, anyone have any ideas for setting up a coupon for use at POS in house? It appears there's no "coupon" functionality but I'm looking for a smart way to configure a discount...I guess to behave in a way that a customer can redeem a coupon.

Scenario

Customer has a coupon with a set dollar value - Up to $15.00

Coupon grants the customer a choice of sandwich, side and drink for up to 15.00 - These 3 conditions must be met

The meal may only cost 12.50 - The coupon has no cash value and the left over $2.50 cannot be applied to additional items.

Does anyone have any smart ways to do this?

Why Square has no combo or coupon functionality setup doesn't make any sense to me...I can definitely submit a feature request that will never be done for an obvious function that should already exist...COME ON SQUARE!! COMBO!

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the great reply…the problem with the workaround is that we want all items on our menu to be available for this coupon. What we are trying to avoid is the extra value being discounted from the order…

person orders burger fries and a drink for $12 and uses a meal coupon, we promo the $12. Person orders 2 burgers 2 fries 2 drinks it would then discount the full $15 dollar “coupon” taking $3 off the second meal.

i don’t think there’s any way around it sadly
