How can I track my purchases/items from my vendor using Square for Retail?

i want to be able to input my receipts where i buy from suppliers. where and how do i do that?

ie: soap supplier ingredients, chicago il, i paid $24.99

they are my vendor (acct payable)...where in SQUARE RETAIL do i enter this information

There isn't a way to run a sales/item report by vendor with Square for Retail at this time. I see how that would help you to manage what you need to order and I'll share your request for a report like this with the Retail team. I just started my 30 day free trial for Square for Retail, and have run into a big problem. I need to search item quanties by vendor in the invenory file. I have not been able to find a way to do that. What am I overlooking?

Hello!

We don't currently have the ability to search items by vendor in Square for Retail - you can search by SKU or item name.

We're always working on the features in Square for Retail and hope to continue to add flexibility to our search in the future.

I'd also love to be able to get reports on sales by vendor. Hard to believe it's not there. Even if Vendor was a column in the spreadsheets I can download on transactions I could sort for it myself.

This needs to be added big time!

We get visits from sales reps that represent multiple vendors. In Quickbooks POS we were able to run a report by individual vendors so we can quickly reorder things.

I'm starting to see that maybe switching over to Square was a bad idea, there are not enough features to support what we have been doing with Quickbooks.

It takes way too much time to look up products and do research on when it was sold and who it was sold to.

@Tom This really needs to be addressed.

Perhaps in Inventory -> Vendors -> (Select Vendor) -> Item Library there should be Current Quantity.

I agree with the other users, the Vendor part of Square Register seems half-baked.

There are Custom Reports, but no ability to do any reports by Vendor or Current Quantity.

I love a lot about Square, but Vendor issues must be addressed so our store can reorder efficiently. Otherwise, we will need to look into another system.

Lack of ability to track sales and inventory by VENDOR not category

This system has a HUGE issue with inventory manegement. It is impossible to track sales or inventory by vendor - only by category. BIG problem when you have almost 3,000 items and 200 vendors! This makes it almost imossible to re order. We just opened, and I didnt realize this problem existed untill too late. For now, I had to go back in and manually ad an alphebetical vendor code to the beginning of each product name - that was fun....2,678 different items to change. Now, I can run a sales by item report, or a total inventory report, export it to an Excell spread sheet and alphebitize it, then isolate the different vendors to re order. Not exactly ideal by any means.... Has anyone found a better way around this problem?

Hi Kitch,

I agree, a Vendor field that's searchable/organizable would be a great feature to add.

The best workaround I could think of would be to use the Variation field to enter the vendor when entering new product. It would let you keep the product organized by their name, but you can find/arrange by variation type in excel with an exported summary. Not a whole lot faster but hopefully something.

Viewing Items Sales by Vendor

Hi there- I recently upgraded to Square for Retail. I am finding the help sections less than thorough for Retail & its added features. What is the time frame to adding a "Vendor" column to the Item Sales Report? If I can see all the items listed under each vendor (under Inventory/soon Items Library), then in theory it should be an easy fix to add that column to a report that can be exported. I honestly can't see it being more than one hour worth of work for the coding. Meanwhile, retailers are spending way more than that cross-referencing. Also it's a feature other POS offer, such as ShopKeep. Please make this simple fix a priority.

I see why you would want this on your reports and I've gone ahead and moved your post to the feature request board of the Seller Community. From here we can track feedback for this request.

If we were to move forward with this feature request it would take some time to build. I understand your logic that we already have some of this information on the inventory section of the app, but you can't just tweak the inventory code and have it build and run a new report.

I've found the best analogy to describe a change like this is to imagine Square as a 50 floor building. To add a new feature to a floor would involve stripping down part of or the whole floor and rebuilding it with the feature. During this process we need to make sure the new feature doesn't impede any plumbing, electrical, or gas lines that service other floors as well. We have a similar feature on another floor that we can use as a guide, but most of the new one will be built from the ground up.
