Cash option on cash register update is now akward

As of today 7/16/26 square cash register updated to ask for tip prior to going to pay screen. This is fine if they are paying with a tip however confusing if they are using cash or another form of payment. Essentially it immediately ask the guest if they would like to add a tip. If they do it doesn’t show up in the other payment screen aka the old original payment screen.

here’s what happens:

Put guest name on for ticket hit next

screen pops up for add customer

tip,

if they add a tip cashier must then hit other payment type.
tip doesn’t go in the total however the option to add tip returns to guest facing side.
Essentially allowing them to hit it again and create s spiral of despair.
essentially now it is confusing to pay cash at the counter for no particular reason.

We have to tell people paying cash not to hit anything on this screen as it just adds confusion, there has to be a better way.
