thread Using filters to isolate which customers have not previously purchased an item in Customer Engagement

I need to set up a customer list to which we can send marketing messages.

We have a list of customers that purchased a 2022 membership to our organization. After customers purchase a 2023 membership, we do not want to send them reminders to renew (very annoying). I thought, oh, this should be easy: start with a list of 2022 customers and filter for those that have NOT purchased a 2023 membership yet.

But the list STILL contains those that have purchased 2023! I called support and they tell me that since those customers have made other purchases which did NOT include a 2023 membership, they remain in the list. I have absolutely no idea as to why this is considered correct or even useful.

Is there any way to use filtering to achieve this? If not, it’s back to “square one” (pun intended).

Hey there, @IMMG -

Could you give me some more information on the reminder emails you're trying to send? Are you trying to automatically send those reminders?

I will keep an eye out for your reply👀.

We didn't intend to automatically send reminders; the "automatic" part that we'd like is the list of customers that still haven't renewed. With the manual process we use now, it is easy to make a mistake and send out a reminder to someone who has already renewed. If Square can automatically remove them when a membership is purchased with a smart list, then it's a lot less work and guaranteed accurate. Once we have a working smart list, then sending out a "campaign" with Square marketing should be an easy thing to do, even if it's not automatic.

Ah okay, @IMMG.

So this isn't a feature have available, but I would like to have you drop this Feature Request over on our Ideate Board.

This is where sellers can bring other feature requests, so our Product Team can see what our sellers are looking for in the future.

Thank you!
