How to Create a Promo Code for a Subscription

Hi there, we're using Square for processing payments for our SaaS business. I would like to know how we can create a promo code for subscription? I can see how this is done for Items but not Subscriptions. We are using the Square API. Is there any way we can do this through Squarre's Developer portal?

Right now, promotions can't be applied to subscription links, but you can create a free trial period when creating a subscription plan. Here's what this looks like:

While I'm not sure if this is something you could get around using API, our developer forum would be the best place to get expert advice.
