I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the battery of your Square hardware. Could you confirm which hardware you are using exactly ? In the meantime, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

make sure your hardware or app is up to date,
perform a factory reset on your hardware (make sure you don't have offline payments before proceeding),
use a different charger,
plug the charger into a different socket.

How old is your device?

Batteries always die after a while if they are used a lot. If your reader is less than a year old you should contact Square for service, but if you've been using it every day for a while then it will definitely die out.

One thing I've found with mine is that when it is not in use it still tries to find a Bluetooth connection, so if it sits in the box for a week or so then it's 100% dead. I always plan to charge it or run it plugged in when I'm starting a new event.
