&lt;P&gt;The issue you're describing actually sounds like perhaps the account has not yet been verified to take card payments. This may be the case if you've signed up as club, association of NFP - &lt;A href="https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Questions-How-to/Sports-clubs-associations-not-for-profits-can-t-sign-up/m-p/85671#M156" target="_blank"&gt;check here for more on this&lt;/A&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;It's also possible that card processing was not activated if you were unable to complete an ID verification as the account holder - &lt;A href="https://squareup.com/help/au/en/article/5057-signup-troubleshooting" target="_blank"&gt;read more on this here&lt;/A&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;

      <title>Card Reader Failed</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Trying to connect to a new card reader. The square ios paired however when you look on the app under Settings/Card Readers/My Readers the status is "Failed".&amp;nbsp; If you click on more info it askes you to reconnect but this does not woprk. The actual square has no lights on, if you press the button all the green lights come on for a couple of seconds then all turn off. Is there usually one green light on??&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Have deleted the app and reinstalled / turned phone off etc&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Have forgotten the device, have reset the device (Red Dots)&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Tried the app on a different device&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Still getting the same issue, could the reader be faulty??&lt;/P&gt;</description>
