&lt;P&gt;The free reader is an older US-only offer for a basic swipe reader - because Australia is almost entirely reliant on the more secure chip and tap based cards, this swipe reader isn't available and won't work by itself in Australia.&lt;BR /&gt;

Our entry level card reader here is the Contactless + Chip reader at $59 - it comes with a swipe reader attachment, but note that this can only be used:&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;- While&amp;nbsp;the Contactless + Chip reader is connected via Bluetooth&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;- For foreign credit cards that don't have chips or tap, or Square gift cards&lt;BR /&gt;
