thread Square Debit Card was cancelled and needs to be replaced. in Banking With Square

I am posting this after spending several hours today attempting to resolve what began as a relatively simple Square Debit Card issue.

My existing Square Debit Card was cancelled and needs to be replaced. The physical card I currently possess displays my correct business name. However, when I attempt to order the replacement, Square displays a different, apparently outdated business name on the card-order screen.

My current business and location information in Square Settings is correct.

That should have been a fairly straightforward discrepancy to investigate. Instead, what followed raises a much larger question about how Square provides support to businesses that rely on its financial products.

Over the course of several hours, I was transferred repeatedly among Banking, Account Support, specialized support, and then back to Banking. Several chat sessions were disconnected or reassigned. With each new representative, I was repeatedly asked to provide my identity and account information, receive another verification code, grant permission to access my account, and explain information that had already been provided.

I supplied screenshots from both the Square app and online Dashboard.

Eventually, a Banking representative compared those screenshots with Square’s internal account information and confirmed something important: my current business and location information is correct, while the Debit Card ordering system appears to be displaying an old business or location name.

That was actual progress. The problem had finally been identified.

But instead of the case moving forward from that finding, I was transferred again and the process effectively restarted.

Another representative subsequently acknowledged the repeated transfers and offered to connect me directly with phone support. I agreed, provided that the existing case history, screenshots, and Banking Team findings would accompany the handoff so I would not have to start over yet again.

I was then asked, again, for information I had already provided repeatedly.

At that point I ended the support session.

My concern here is no longer simply the incorrect name appearing on a replacement debit card. It is the apparent lack of continuity within Square’s support system.

Why should a Square customer have to function as Square’s case-management system?

Why doesn’t verification follow an active case through an internal transfer when appropriate?

Why aren’t screenshots, troubleshooting results, and findings reliably available to the next representative?

Why can a Banking representative establish that Square’s card-ordering system is apparently pulling outdated information, yet the customer still be transferred elsewhere and effectively returned to the beginning?

And perhaps most importantly, how is a business owner supposed to have confidence in support for a financial product when several hours of contact can produce a diagnosis but no path to resolution?

I want to be clear that I am not posting this to attack individual support representatives. Several appeared genuinely willing to help. The problem I experienced was structural: repeated transfers, repeated authentication, poor continuity between departments, lost time, and no ownership of the issue from beginning to end.

The original questions also remain unresolved:

Where is the Square Debit Card ordering system obtaining the outdated business name?

What exact business name will actually be printed on the replacement card?

Who within Square has the ability to correct the outdated information without requiring a seller to change business information that Square has already confirmed is correct?

I would genuinely like someone from Square to explain how this support process is intended to work, because what I experienced today cannot reasonably be the intended process for supporting businesses that depend on Square for payments and banking.

I had a similar issue with my address being incorrect in the application for a square card for my own account and it gave me some concern - perhaps you can share some screen shots or urls of the exact issues so I can get them forwarded to some engineers I have contacts for? This thread is a bit hard to follow exactly what the specific issues were with the system prior to the customer service side

@tranguyen can you share the customer service "ticket should follow the customer through their call" concerns with the customer service team? I know we went through that scenario with them when we had them on our call
