I don't think they were fully accurate on this -- there are definitely still loans being offered. I know a few people, and even on here just yesterday someone posted about their offer coming through before they hit 70%. So they are absolutely still loaning. But it seems like whenever we reach out to them the canned answer is basically "no loan offer for you, keep processing", or to just keep checking. That's my main issue with all of it, the lack of information for long time customers is ridiculous. I fully understand they are not guaranteed, but I paid mine off a week ago and have no new offer after the best year I've had so far -- so to just tell me "no offer for you right now, but keep processing!" is such a kick in the face because it gives ZERO information.

Hello! While I’m well aware loans can come at any time over 75% paid off on the current one, I do wish there was an easier way to predict when that would happen.

my last one was 76% paid off and I received an offer. I’m currently at 78.5% paid off and nothing yet.

Anyone seeing loans offered under 80% still?

I Paid Off My First Square Loan — When Will I Get a Second Offer?

Hey there! I have a question regarding square loans for anyone who might be willing to provide some insight.

I'm a record producer and only this year did I start funneling business through square. I take payment over a number of different methods due to the nature of my work, some companies need to pay by check/wire/etc, so only a portion of my business has gone through square.

I recently paid off my first loan with Square within 4 months, it was smaller - only about 800 dollars including their fees. They made the offer after I reached the 10k sales threshold. Since receiving the loan, I've done another 12k in business through square, most of which in September - I paid the first loan off on Sep. 27th.

I have not received another offer for a 2nd loan yet - do you think I will receive another offer? And if so, when it might come/how much it might be for? I know that nobody has that actual information here but I would love to know what everyone thinks about my situation. Could really use a 2nd loan for some new studio gear.

Thanks all!

Hi @thebaddreamers! 👋

Thanks for reaching out with your question! I see you’ve directed this to other Sellers here in the Community, and while I want to leave the floor open to other Sellers, in the meantime, I can share a bit more about what to expect from Square’s side when it comes to loan offers.

Square Loans are offered by invitation only. If you don’t currently see an offer available, you won’t be able to apply just yet. That said, Square reviews accounts daily, so eligibility can change from day to day.

If you're eligible, you’ll see available offers in the Loans tab of your Square Dashboard. Offers are based on several factors unique to your business, including your payment processing volume, account history, and how frequently you take payments.

For a full breakdown of how Square Loans work and what to expect, I’d recommend checking out our Apply for a Loan
guide.

I’m curious if others are having issues receiving new offers. We have multiple businesses with square and have always taken offers because we are constantly expanding. I have one at 93% paid and another one that I took out on August 30th that is at 90% paid back. I feel that something is seriously wrong with the algorithm. Still not sure why they don’t have a manual process to fix things when they make mistakes. I’ve been offered substantial onboarding offers from toast and spot on. I’m for once actually considering making the switch. We love square and we love our local rep but when you count on these loans for expansion it becoming difficult to stay loyal. The loan I took out in August was structured so badly by the algorithm that they are recapturing the morning before we can spend it. Complete rip off.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Square Loans, @Hineshospitalit. I can certainly appreciate how frustrating it would be when you're expecting a new loan offer but don't see one available.

Square Loans are offered through an automated eligibility system that evaluates multiple factors in your account. While having one loan at 93% paid and another at 90% paid might seem like you should qualify for a new offer, there's no set percentage threshold that automatically triggers new loan eligibility. In general, Sellers typically repay at least ¾ of their existing loan before receiving another offer, but this doesn't guarantee a new offer automatically.

If you don't currently see a loan offer available, I'd recommend checking the eligibility page on your Square Dashboard under Banking > Loans > Your next loan > View details. This page provides insights into your loan eligibility status by comparing your business's real-time data to key factors that determine eligibility. If any factors need attention, you'll find tips there to help strengthen your chances of becoming eligible. Keep in mind that Square can't promise a loan offer, even when all factors on the eligibility page are listed as good.

For more information about loan eligibility factors, please check out this article on our Support Center.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us here.

I only have one children’s boutique, however I am waiting for a loan also, 15 years with square and many loans and never a problem. I am always offered a loan at 60- 75% and I’m at 81% and not a peep. We suffered hurricane Helene last year and I was offered a small loan with hardly anything paid. I’ve contacted by phone and by email and I got the same response from both. Exactly the same response. I feel like there is something wrong with the algorithm. Looks like to me a person would have to keep an eye on the algorithm and program. What I don’t understand is why they can't tell us nothing. I need inventory for the holiday season. It was a very difficult winter last year with no business from hurricane Helene. We barely made it.

I’m probably the best candidate for a new offer. Sales are up, paying back at a very rapid rate etc. not sure what else your algorithm is looking for. The one loan I was offered I took on August 30th and it was for 27k with fee 31k. I’m not even at my first 2 month cycle and it’s 90% paid off and sales have gone up 17%

Hello @shannong

Welcome to the Square Community. As I am sure that you are aware from all of the other threads involving loans, that the "metrics" aren't really a set in stone guarantee once they are green but more of a very very very basic visual of meeting the minimum guidelines for a potential loan offer.

As far as % paid back I haven't been watching any of the loan threads, but it was at a point around the 80% plus paid back last that I knew. So if that is the case, it seems that you are very close! Keep your visual metrics in the green, and keep processing and hopefully you will get one here shortly once you pass the 80% mark.

I agree with you that there should be an easier way to predict a loan, however my .02 on that would be that I think Square should eliminate the "early" loan offer. A new offer should not be extended until that previous loan is 100% paid off. Then and only then would a new offer potentially be granted. I know that my opinion on it isn't a very popular one, but it also takes out the guess work, takes out the false hope ( previous offers ranging from 65-85% paid back), new loans can be used to their full potential instead of paying off a previous loan,

It's aggravating. My last one came in May when I was 68% paid. I accepted and now paid that one off last week, and still have yet to get an offer -- after all shown metrics are met and my sales are higher than I've ever had. I don't get it, and the vague-ness to it is kind of frustrating and makes me want to go ahead and start building myself up with another processor who may be a little more communicative on them.

But anyway: I kept thinking I would get an offer at 75, 80, 85, 90, 95 lol and then got nothing. I hope yours comes through, but I would not totally expect it.

Something is definitely going on with square. I opened a new location that process over 150k per month. They offered me 27k in August. An insulting offer btw. I’ve now paid off 95% of the loan and haven’t even paid my first 2 month cycle yet. Yes, I’ll have this loan for less than 2 months. I’m not even sure how charging 3100 for a 27k loan that last 2 months is even legal. I’m so sick of the AI generated responses that say we structure these loan to make sure your business can support it and function. It’s a joke. I have 4 different businesses with square, process around 7 mil between all of them. I’ve been in talks with toast to move everything. Their capitol program is ran 100% better than square. New offers at 50%. Select the time frame of payback etc. Square has been telling me for 5 years we are going to update the loan program and make it easier and more informative but I’m done holding my breath. While we love square and would hate to move they are putting a ton of stress on our expansion efforts. I’m giving them till tomorrow night to give me an offer for the one they screwed up so badly I’m paying it back in 2 months, if I don’t receive one I’m planning on starting the move of everything to toast. Hope everyone gets their offers but deep down I truly believe something is really wrong at square. Don’t know if them opening a bank has caused major regulation issues with these loans or what’s going on. It’s just a mess. By what I read in this community many businesses are hurting because what they count on from square isn’t coming. I’d say buy stock in toast and spot on. They seem to have things figured out and will be the front runners in this industry if square can’t get their act together

One of my biggest complaints is it's the same copy and paste response all the time & "just keep processing!" which isn't helpful to me. Because I've checked all the boxes, I keep processing. And at this point if I have no idea if a loan is going to come through, then I would rather work on establishing myself at another processor that IS more transparent about their loans. This has been our best year so far, and I'm just baffled that in May when our sales were lower, they offered a loan before we even got to 70% but when we pay off that one in a few months, it's crickets. I've already started looking at alternatives -- I'll give it a tiny bit more time to see if an offer pops up, but if not I really hate to make the switch since we've been with them for awhile, but I'm gonna wind up moving to somewhere that is more interested in cultivating a good working business relationship.

Yes, we moved to a local Credit Union earlier in the year to finally get something more local that is pretty fantastic and we will definitely be checking that out (since they do have requirements for how long you need to be with them regardless of sales). Your point of them not extending an offer until the current one is paid in full is a great one, honestly, and would be a great start!!

I use my local bank. Banks will only forward so much towards expansion on restaurants. I’ve been with square since 2017. Bought and sold several locations. We only use square loans to open more locations. It is what it is but I will be taking my processing elsewhere if I don’t receive an offer by tomorrow night.

October 2025 no square capital loans available

I was just told through chat on Square that there were no Square capital loans available at this time. I was super sad to hear this as I’ve been with Square for eight years. I have a friend who was just offered a Square capital loan five days ago so pretty bad that she has only been with Square a couple years and she got a loan but I can’t get an offer. I know others have mentioned leaving Square due to this, I have a sales rep from another processing company offer me free processing for the first 30 days and a capital loan after 30 days. My company has an opportunity to expand and get into a bigger facility, which would really grow my company and of course, revenue. I was hoping to still use Square because I have really enjoyed all the perks. But finding out now that they have no money to loan out to those of us that have been with them for a long time is disheartening. Anyone have any advice? My current capital loan is almost 90% paid so once I have that paid off in the next couple weeks I would be able to switch processing companies but again I’m really torn on what to do.

This makes total sense. I figure that square was capped on how much they could lend and are at the max. Especially since the have opened a bank on the west coast. I’m sure the regulations are crossing paths. This will really hurt square because many like you and I will move on to another processor. .im at 95% and 96% on my 2 loans with square and use them for expansion also. We have really loved using square but business is business and Square should have given an announcement to its customers. This is terrible business leaving everyone in the dark. I’m sure Square didn’t want to announce it due to the mass exodus that will come afterwards. I gave them till tomorrow evening to give me an offer but I’m confident it’s not coming. It a shame because everyone in my businesses loves square and my local rep is awesome. Looking forward I’d look there might be big potential in buying stock in Toast, spot on etc. these companies are going to get a huge increase in business if all this is true. Square will be in big trouble
