Hi! Those of you on Square Appointments, how are you using Tracking Service Costs? Is it reflective in the dashboard somewhere when, if you have a hair cut or tan and have the service cost be $xx.xx, and you do 30 of these services, it will multiple that and give you your cost?

How do you then make it actionable?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Emily

Expanding on this what is really needed is the ability to attach an item/consumable (or multiple) to a service. The item already has the cost price added to it when creating that item so it would reflect the true cost of providing that service and would be much simpler and time saving for many businesses. Example would be a hairdresser that offers a cut and colour service, they should be able to attach the shampoo/conditioner plus the dye items to that service reflecting what that service costs the business to offer. If you wanted to take it a step further you could attach a staff member and the system could add they’re labour cost to it as we list what they’re hourly wages are within they’re profile and we list how long that service takes to complete already within square.

little touches like this would make square such a powerful full management suite for operating your business that competitors wouldn’t be able to come close to!

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to track that in Reports. Currently, Cost of Goods sold only applies to items and not to services. Add it to the list of things deemed "unnecessary" for Appointments users.

I've had to utilize third-party software to track that cost for me.
