Something's weird with my reports- categories not reporting properly

I noticed today in my sales report that a few items are showing "uncategorized" but when I go further into each individual item, they are, in fact, categorized.

Anyone else having issues with categories reporting properly?

None of the categories are selected as the "reporting category" which is what is missing.

Although it doesn't fix it for past sales either fyi. Only future.

@IndoorFins is correct, if you delete a reporting category and do not replace it, no new reporting category is auto selected - I considered it a bug but was told that is expected behaviour

Yeah, @JTPets "expected" or no, its not particularly good behavior. I encountered it because I was reworking my categories. I wish at least there was a way to filter BY reporting category. Having the filters apply to all applied categories makes it impossible to find who is missing a reporting category or in the wrong one.

Right now I've been finding missing ones slowly, but I think I really need to export my library (all ~1000skus) and do a reporting category check/clean up. I just dislike doing that because I learned the hard way that it's easy to accidentally scramble your prices if you select wrong on a sort function.

But in the meantime I have fun issues like my Pearl Gourami (a freshwater fish) selling and applying over an over $100 sale to "Marine Fish" as a category. (Honestly I don't know how I accidentally put them in that category at all, but that could well be human error). And just yesterday I found all my actual marine fish were without a reporting category.

@DinaLRosenberg Basically I learned this the hard way and it's not unreasonable you didn't notice!
