You said Bluetooth is already disabled at the device level, but the app can still surface a Bluetooth printer if it has the permission, so this is the other half of that.

Second, the duplicates. Go to ≡ More > Settings > Hardware > Printers on each iPad and tap the phantom Bluetooth entry to see which profile it's on. Printer profiles have a "Use this printer for" section with toggles for Receipts, In-person order tickets, Online and kiosk order tickets, Order ticket stubs, and Void tickets — and Square's default profiles have all of those turned on, which is exactly how one phantom entry can trigger multiple prints. If the phantom entry has those toggles on, switch them all off. Tapping the entry won't delete it

Hopefully this will stop the bluetooth printing.

i have a 3 printer/ipad setup which im using to print receipts and order tickets from each. I have bluetooth disabled/not paired but whenever i plug in the ipads im having a bluetooth printer appear which then is causing receipts and tickets to print several times. I used to be able to click on it and at least have that solve the multiple printing issue but now with the new update that doesnt work. Help 😞

Thanks for the suggestions! Would there be another way to connect the square card readers without bluetooth? That is the only thing that we are still using that is connected to the bluetooth

Thanks for clarifying that! Since you're using a Bluetooth Square Reader for payments, you'll definitely want to leave Bluetooth enabled. Turning it off would prevent your card reader from connecting, so disregard that part of my earlier suggestion.

Let's concentrate on the printer configuration instead.

Square allows you to control which printers receive jobs through printer profiles, even when Bluetooth is enabled.

Here's what I would try:

On each iPad, open Square and go to More > Settings > Hardware > Printers.

Select the printer that's showing up unexpectedly.

Look under Assigned Profiles to see which printer profiles are connected to it.

Check whether that printer has been assigned to multiple profiles or whether more than one iPad is sending it the same print jobs.

If you find an unwanted profile assignment, you can remove that assignment without disabling Bluetooth.

Square also allows you to edit which devices send jobs to a printer through each profile.

Since you have three iPads and three printers, I'd recommend checking one iPad at a time rather than changing all three at once.

There's one other thing I'd like to know. When the unwanted Bluetooth printer appears, does it have the exact same name as one of your USB printers, or does it show up under a different name?

That would help us determine whether Square is detecting the same physical printer through two connection methods or whether we're dealing with overlapping printer profiles.

The printer that is the bluetooth connection shows up as a different name to all the others. I have renamed all of the USB printers to their own unique names, and the bluetooth printer shows up as the default printer device name.

It automatically assigns all of the printing profiles and i am unable to delete or make changes to it. When attempting to make changes i am given error SPSHardwareErrorDomain error 17.

Thanks for those additional details! That actually helps narrow things down quite a bit.

The fact that the unwanted Bluetooth printer appears under its default name, automatically assigns the printing profiles, and then gives you SPSHardwareErrorDomain error 17 when you try to make changes is interesting.

I checked Square's documentation, and while Square does explain how to manage printer profiles, I couldn't find a documented explanation for that particular error code.

There's one more thing I'd like you to check.

From a computer, sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Device Management > Profiles > Printer Profiles.

Take a look at the profiles listed there and see whether the unwanted printer or any unexpected profile assignments appear.

Square allows you to manage printer profiles from the Dashboard, so it would be worth seeing whether the same error occurs there.

I would be careful about deleting any profiles right now since they're shared across your devices and could affect your working USB printers.

Since you have three iPads, I'd also be interested to know whether the unwanted Bluetooth printer appears on all three or just one.

If the Dashboard won't let you correct the assignments either, I think this needs to go to Square Support as a potential hardware or software issue. Be sure to give them the exact SPSHardwareErrorDomain error 17 message.
