thread Reader Damaged in Hardware Setup & Troubleshooting

Hi,

I'm just starting out as a small business owner and I got a 2nd generation square reader as a gift to use for my markers however when I tried to register the device, it always shows up as damaged and to use another reader. I have this reader fully charged and I dont see any issues nor does the app tell me what issue it is but I see online people saying that if a square reader isnt charged all the time, it will just get damaged on its own. I'm wondering if there is any possible resolution to this even though I have seen a lot of sources where its almost impossible, since I dont have the money to get a new one, I would really like to get this one fixed.
