      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi &lt;a href="https://community.squareup.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/361029"&gt;@glazedexp&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Five years old is a pretty good run!&amp;nbsp;Definitlely getting to the end of its expected lifespan, but there are a few things you can try to keep it running a bit longer:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Check for software updates&lt;BR /&gt;Go to Settings &amp;gt; Hardware &amp;gt; About Register &amp;gt; Software Update and make sure you’re on the latest version. Updates often fix stability issues.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Clear cache and restart regularly&lt;BR /&gt;In Settings &amp;gt; Device &amp;gt; Clear Cache, then restart the Register. This can help if the system is slowing down.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Reduce background load&lt;BR /&gt;Close any apps or tabs you don’t need and avoid running heavy features like large reports during peak times.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Factory reset as a last resort&lt;BR /&gt;If glitches persist, a factory reset can refresh the system. Go to Settings &amp;gt; Device &amp;gt; Factory Reset. Make sure you back up any data first.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If these steps don’t help and the blank screen keeps happening, it’s likely time to consider a replacement. Square hardware is pretty durable, but after several years of daily use, they are certainly going to wear out like anything.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I love the Square Register, but personally find the iPad + Square Stand a lot more flexibile for smaller businesses. The benefit also is you can pretty much swap iPads out if they start slowing down etc and hang onto the Stand.
