Does Square do credit check for POS or Online payment processing?

Hello, does anyone know Square does a credit check for payment processing? My client says her partner previously applied for POS system & payment processing for their business from Square & got declined. Perhaps this only applies to POS not the Online section? Thank you.

I want first to welcome you to the Community.

There is no credit check to be able to sign up and process payments using Square. It sounds like they filled out an application for hardware installments on our Square equipment. The installment program provides a payment option that lets you pay for your Square hardware in monthly installments. There is a short application process, and all applications are subject to credit approval.
