Hello,

We are a non-profit organization (NPO) looking to provide $200 gift cards to our members. I have the following questions:

Is it possible to activate a gift card and assign it to a specific customer profile in Square?
Can we set an expiration date on that same gift card?

Essentially, we do not want to process a payment at the time of activation, because the store is offering these cards to our members at no cost.

You can create a promo code that would discount the gift cards 100% - I use that when issuing a gift card to someones email for a poor experience or discounts that were not removed

As for assigning it to a customer, you again could use e gift card and email it to them

Expiration of a gift card might go against provincal law, but you can always empty a gift card if needed in the gift card reporting

I'm trying to issue a gift card from my Square Terminal, but I can't seem to find the option. I attempted to create an item, but there was no gift card option available. I also checked the Square app on my mobile phone, but I couldn't find a way to add a gift card there either so the article" can be charge then applied a 100% discount as you mentionned. I'm thinking about using eGift cart for simplicity.

Is there a specific setting I need to enable, or is this feature only available on certain devices? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

From the dashboard menu - gift cards - egift cards - discounts - enable discounts - create a discount code for 100% off

Then

dashboard - gift cards - egift cards - configure - Online - enable sell online - use url to buy giftcard with promo code

delete promo code

I did not realise there would be some fee related to that however! what this out if you are using this solution.
