new to square and need to get my product structure correct

I am new to square and I'm attempting to add products. Under the protein category I have several brands. I'd like to use these are the first items to show after selecting protein. Under each brand I have several flavors and 2 jug sizes for each flavor. If I pick one of the flavors I'd like to have an easy option of selecting the size and the selected item would show up in the sales screen. Can anyone give me exact steps to accomplish this? I've played with variables and options till my head is ready to explode. It's not displaying the way I'd like. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am happy to help. From the information you provided so far, it seems like variations and modifier will work for your setup. You could create an item called "Protein" then make the variation the jug sizes. The flavor of the protein would be modifiers.

Try this:

Category - Protein

Category - Brand ( have protein as a Parent to Brand)

Category - Flavors ( Have Brand as the Parent of Flavors)

Then you can create your Flavor as an Item, and select all three categories, but select the one you want for reporting as Your Reporting category. Under your Item flavor create 2 variation of the size with their own price and SKU if you like. Just name the item *brand* Flavor.

For example with Candles

Category - Scented

Category Brand - Pocono Candle

Category Scents

Item might be French Vanilla

Variations 8oz, 16oz, 28oz, Votives, 3x3 Pillar etc

Then on my POS machine yours is a Register you can Edit and add different Categories as a Tab.

So after you add Proteins

In the Poteins Tab you can add the Brands tab

Then when You tap the Brand you want you can then select the Flavor and then the size.

Since you are using Square I am not sure if your using the Square Pos app ( Black Icon) Square for Resturants ( Red Icon ) or Square for Retail ( Aqua Green color Icon )

All three work the same but might have different terminology for setting this up. I am giving you the way to set it up from a Computers web browser and not through the App on your Register. Once its setup in your back office in a web browser, this information can be accessed from any of our devices.
