Besides barcode is there any other way to scan products at a POS?

I wanted to use the camera to read a QR code or even a NFC but I can't find any information on having those as a possibility.

The bar code readers are expansion and is another item I need to take with me everywhere.

I like to leveraged the hardware I already have.

Any ideas?

Just so I'm understanding you, are you hoping to be able to scan items to add them to a sale from your point of sale? Or would you be open to a QR code option that your customers can scan to checkout with?

Through Square for Retail, you can use your iPad's camera to scan barcodes when creating new items and this functionality extends to the checkout flow when adding items to your sale. However, this feature is only available via the Square for Retail app.

To use the iPad Cameras as a barcode scanner, follow the below steps:

1. From the Retail app's checkout cart tap the barcode icon next to the search bar.
2. Tap OK to enable camera access.
3. Scan a bar code to add it to your cart.
