How To Bulk Edit Variations?

I was hoping to find out how to edit variations for items in bulk, specifically pricing. An example would be that we sell a category of 100 products at the same price of $10 each, but want a variation for trade pricing of $8 each. Is this possible without having to change every individual item? Thanks.

You can use the bulk import tool to bulk add/edit variations, with different pricing. For detailed instructions, please refer to this article on our Support Center. You might also find this existing thread in the Community helpful.

If you’d prefer not to use the bulk import tool, another option could be to create a discount called Trade Pricing. This discount could be applied at checkout. If you’re selling online, you could create a coupon code through Square Marketing and share it with your trade customers to use during online checkout.

Hi Katie,

Thank you for the quick response. I've exported my item library but I'm slightly confused. To add Trade Prices to all items do I write "Trade Price" in the 'Variation Name' Column and the other prices for each item in the 'Online Sale Price' section?

Online sales prices allow you to create separate pricing for your items sold in-person and online, but this is separate to variations. If you’ll be selling these items at both retail and trade prices online, you’ll want to follow this format:

Item Name	Description	Category	Variation Name	Price
Socks	Item Description (Just put it in the first item line)	Clothing	Standard Pricing	6
Socks		Clothing	Trade Pricing	4
Baseball Cap	Item Description (Just put it in the first item line)	Clothing	Standard Pricing	35
Baseball Cap		Clothing	Trade Pricing	28

In the spreadsheet:

Your item name will be the same for both.
The description (if you have one) will be in the first row of each item only.
The variation names will be different (E.g., Standard Pricing & Trade Pricing).
The price columns will be different.

If you are only selling items online at trade price and you have a Square Online website, then adding the trade pricing to the Square Online Sale Prices column would be a great option. 🙂
