The title of this thread has been edited from the original: what is the 'service charges'? i never used to have this in my monthly statement.

what is the 'service charges'? i never used to have this in my monthly statement but, here it is.

its different to 'service fees' and i have not added any service charges in my dashboard. This is causing problems with my accounting. any help would be appreciated.

If service charges are appearing as a line item in your reports or statements, this indicates there is a manual service charge or automatic surcharge set up on your account.

Service charges can be created and applied manually to each sale to help offset operational or overhead costs, and may be percentage-based or a fixed amount. Automatic surcharging lets you automatically pass on processing fees for card payments.

As a first step, please review your settings for any service charges or automatic surcharges:

From your online Square Dashboard

Go to Settings > Account & Settings > Payments > Service Charges

From your Point of Sale

Go to More > Settings > Checkout > Service Charges

To delete a service charge or automatic surcharge:

From your Square Dashboard, navigate to Account & Settings > Payments > Service charges.
Click on the surcharge, then select Delete card surcharge > Confirm.
