Does the system allow more than one “close-off” in one trading day, eg if an afternoon bar session “closes-off” and the bar reopens for a evening session later should the staff “close-off” at the end of that session or not till the next day

Yes, Square allows for more than one "close-off" or end-of-day procedure within a single trading day.

If you’re running multiple sessions in a day (e.g., an afternoon bar session and an evening session), you can end your drawer at the end of each session to help track sales, tips and cash flow separately for each period.

At the end of each session in your app:

1. Go to More > Reports > Current Drawer.

2. Select 'End Drawer' to complete the session, and 'Start Drawer' to reopen the drawer or start a new session for the next trading period.
