Square Terminal Tips.

I just started using a square terminal. I offer tours on which we typically receive tips. A deposit is required to book a tour and the balance is charged at the end of the tour.

For example if the tour is $1000 and they put a deposit down of $200 then the balanced Owed would be $800.

Now if I charge them $800 it will suggest tip amounts based on the $800 not on the full $1000. I tried to make it $1000 and make a cash payment of $200 but it still calculates the tip on the $800 the card is being charged.

Can I turn off the percentages AND the smart tip amounts so only allow custom amounts?

Hi @stormwarning. Unfortunately you have found a catch-22 with Square when it comes to deposits, discounts and so forth. And, at this time, you can not have only custom tip amounts as a choice.

Another seller submitted a feature request that is located at this link. I’d highly recommend that you follow that link and like/upvote it, adding your comments if you want.

Also, I’d recommend that you submit your own feature request to the POS Team on Square’s Ideate Board. For this one, it would be good to suggest that we be given the option to only have custom tips and no suggested tips.
