New 2nd generation square reader dead battery within days of fully charging without using it

I fully charge the square reader to get it ready for the next time I need it (we use it for concessions). I pull it out on the day we need it and it's completely dead. I have to charge it for hours. Huge mistake to not put a power button on the device - how do I make the battery stop going dead between charging it and the next time I need it?

I leave mine Plugged in until I am ready to leave for where I need it. As you mentioned there is no power button so it will keep looking for a device to connect through bluetooth to. The other option is to get a Battery pack that can Charge the Reader at you consession stand. Or you could plug it in a your stand to be always ready.

Same. These devices are garbage. And getting a refund is so difficult. I will never buy another product from Square.
