thread Terminals unpair when not used in Hardware Setup & Troubleshooting

We have multiple Terminal devices that pair and work fine. If they are not used for a period of time (e.g. 30 days), they need to be re-paired. For our use case (i.e. we only use the devices at the start of a series of classes/sessions that last 2-3 months), we effectively need to re-pair them every time we have to use them.

Support was useless.

Does anyone know if a paired, but unused, device is automatically unpaired after a period of time?

There is no tablet involved. We use the Terminal functionality as a standalone device (w/receipts, etc.) connected to our IoT network. There are no connectivity issues.
