Stuck Setting Up Square Online Ordering? Here’s a Full Walkthrough

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a resource I put together for anyone who’s feeling stuck setting up Square Online ordering.

It covers setting up your menu, variations, and modifiers organized to pickup settings, ordering hours, and customizing the actual online ordering page.

@lilisalazar such a great video, thanks for sharing it with everyone! I'm Gabi, lead on our e-commerce products at Square. I'd love to better understand why you chose to use Square Online over Ordering Profiles? I'm not sure you're aware but Ordering Profiles are our newer ordering product at Square, and have additional features available.

Hi @gabiz I can't answer for them but I am curious as I currently use square online for my online ordering website for my restaurant. I wasn't really aware of a new ordering profile to use instead (besides seeing both on the dashboard) . Is there a tutorial on switching to ordering profiles vs online ordering? I would like to keep up on the new tech and take advantage. Thanks

Hi BACKYARD - since you already use Square Online for ordering, you're most of the way there. Your online ordering profile is built from the same menus you use on your Square Online site, so there's nothing to rebuild - it mostly just needs to be turned on.

In your Square Dashboard, go to Channels > Online ordering, confirm your location and fulfillment settings look right, and click Enable ordering. Pickup is set up automatically if your business address is on file, and you can toggle on delivery in settings. Worth a quick pass on branding (logo and brand color) and tipping too, since those are set on the profile itself.

One thing to know: turning on your ordering profile doesn't change or replace your Square Online site - both can run at the same time. So you can enable it, take a look, and decide what works best for your restaurant with zero risk to your current setup. It's also where we're actively building new ordering features, so it's a good way to stay on the new tech.

Thank you. It looks like I had that all setup already but wasn't utilizing it. Didn't realize I could use that for online ordering instead of the website.

It won't require people to download the Cash App correct?
