Square for Restaurants Plus- splitting a check

Hi everyone!

I own a relatively small tavern. My staff was having a hard time splitting checks so I enrolled in Square for Restaurants Plus. Now I pay $190 only to split checks. I have no other reasons to use other features with the Plus. Does anyone know if any good features that I could use? I don't do HR or payroll with Square. Thank you!

Definitely use the square loyalty feature in Restaurants Plus. But I would add that restaurants plus should only be $69 a month so may want to check with your rep on that

You should be able to access that feature on the (basic) free plan. I access this feature on my iPhone. After the order is taken proceed to the screen that displays the option to choose the payment method- at the top right side of the screen is where this the split payment option appears… at least on my device… Hope this helps.

There’s splitting checks in two ways depending on your needs. If you just need to split a final bill into two payments. NETTIESCHOICE is correct. Use the payment screen feature to split amount.

If you actually want to split a check using some logic, by seat or by item or other, then the Plus features are the way to go to make it look easier for your staff.

Not worth getting square for restaurants plus in a small tavern setting. To split a check, open the ticket you want to split, open the ticket you want to split, top right hit 3 dots, click split ticket. Move items to new check and hit save

Some other benefits to consider without knowing the size of your tavern:

staff scheduling, tip tracking/pooling
pre-auth for bar tabs, avoid loss from walkouts.
and lower processing fees.
