Categories on POS versus online store

I am trying to find out if I can have a category in my online store that does not appear in the POS system at the register. I can do the reverse, a category in the POS is hidden from the online store, however, I want to have a special category for only the online side. Can that be done and if so how? Thank you.

At this time hiding categories on Square Point of Sale is considered a Feature Request.
