How to avoid item images to be cut off or distorted?

How do artists post items with size regulations without it distorting or cutting off picture?

Hey there Contessa7,

One has to get creative sometimes, after all that what we Artists are all about. What we have done was to first determine the best item photo size for displaying both on a computer and a smart device. After a bit of trial and error, seems the best size for computers and smart devices was 720 by 720. However, most if not all of our photos were much larger and not square. The work around is to create a blank jpg that is 720 x 720. Next we reduce the size of the original item photo so it fits into the blank jpg. You may have to experiment a bit so you get the best fit. For example, our item photo original size was 4032 x 3024 - after resizing it we copied and pasted it into our 720 x 720 jpg template. Note, we altered the back ground color of our jpg template - just a personal option. Perhaps other Community members have some additional tips or can share what works best for them. We use Photoroom app and for the template I select Shopify Square. All our photos fit with no cut offs.
