Is there a way to set up a maximum limit by category, not item?

Hello, I'm wondering if there is a way to set a maximum limit by category, not item? For example, I sell pies - and I'd love to set a maximum limit for each day for WHOLE PIES (which is a category) not APPLE PIE (which is an item).

Is this possible to set up somewhere in my Square Dashboard so orders placed on the website cannot exceed a specific number?

Hi @piewaytoheaven. Currently, there is no way to do this. Also, I can’t think of a decent work-around for this with the current online ordering tools.

It is possible that there might be a third-party app that integrates with Square that offers online ordering with categorical limits, but off the top of my head I couldn’t tell you which one might do that, if any. You can head over to the Square App Marketplace and search for online ordering apps that might work for you.

Lastly, if you feel so inclined, you can also head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request to the Square Online team to add this feature. Just be aware that even if the team does accept your suggestion, that will only start a process of design, implementation and testing for a future release. In other words, this is not a quick solution to your issue now. But it is worth the effort, in my opinion.
