Inventory not working for online store

Customers are able to add more products to the basket than what I have in stock.

It only notifies you when you go to the checkout that there is not enough inventory of that item.

Any updates?

Make sure you have the Track and Alert toggles turned on. An easy to way to find this option is in the Variation of your Item.

Then click on Edit Stock Tracking and then you can toggle on the Track and Alert and you can set your Alert to how many items you would like to be notified that you have left.

@ascoach thank you for the reply.

I have checked your solution and I have stock tracking on for each variation. I have tried turning inventory tracking on and off and it still hasn't fixed the issue. I have also tried adding and removing the stock alert and that hasn't fixed it either.
