Creating a bundle of multiple items with variations

I am trying to set up my account to have individual items, but also bundle some of those items into a "kit." The kit would have some items that have variations like size & color, so I need the bundle to include drop down boxes for those variations. Is this possible?

Hi @jturpin. It might be soon. There is an active beta going on for Retail Bundling here. Of course, there is no way to know when this might be completed and the product rolled out to everyone. So, if there is room and Square is accepting more participants you can join on that screen. Not being part of that beta, I’m not sure whether it will meet your variation needs or not.

I’m tagging that beta group admins in case they want to reach out to you.

I came here to submit this as a feature request. I’m very excited that we can do Bundles now. But in its current iteration, you must specify the variation of the item that is going into the bundle.

For example, we sell an Cookies (item) and Ice Cream Pints (item). The Cookies item comes in different variations (chocolate chip, double chocolate etc). The Pints item does too (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry etc)

If I want to create an ice cream and cookies bundle, I HAVE TO select the specific variation of cookie and ice cream. What I need, is a bundle where I can select the items that come included and the customer selects the variation in a dropdown.

I upgraded for the paid version because I needed bundles, but I need them to handle variations, I'm disappointed by the way it works now, I might need to switch platform if it's not fixed soon

I need this as well where I can make a KIT not a bundle ie. allowing the customer to fill in the colors they want. We are not bundling. We want them to assemble from parts that have variable prices based on what they select but cannot be purchased independently. ie. we want to let the customer select the color/quality frame they want and the color insert. These are sets of 10/25/50/100 so trying to make variations with 10 options on one and 5 options on the other would be too crazy. We want to let them get 3 pink, 4 blue, 2 green, and a yellow to make up the 10 rather than all 10 having to be a single homogenous product. The shipping cost ratio leaves a bad taste if we try to sell them individually.

Hi @edi783punx,

When you opt to create an item as part of a bundle, the Item Options are no longer available.

Instead you'll find that the variations associated with each pre-existing item are listed as individual Components.

So that you can keep up to date on any developments on this, I've gone ahead and merged your post with another thread where Sellers have previously discussed the topic. Merging threads helps us keep all interested parties informed when there is an update to share, and it allows you to consider the workarounds that other Sellers have implemented.

Any updates on this topic? I'm looking to create a mix and match bundle where customers can choose from a variety of mugs, teas and tea balls to get a percentage off their bundle. I have 24 styles of mugs, 18 teas, and 10 styles of tea balls so a feature where we can put all of the items into a bundle and add the requirement that a customer must pick 1 of each to get the discount would be very helpful.

Hi @Hookandneedle - thanks for checking in on this. Creating bundles is currently available with Retail Plus or Premium members. To create a bundle:

Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Items & services (or Items & menus or Items & inventory) > Items > Item library.
Click Create item.
Click Sell as a bundle > Select components.
Check the box next to each item you want to include as components of your bundle.
Click Select components.
If applicable, add a SKU or GTIN.
Add the bundle Price.
Click Save.

Thank you for your patience. At the moment, creating bundles is available with Retail Plus or Premium. However, there isn’t currently a way to require customers to select one option. You might find that using combos works better for your setup.

I need the bundle to be able to include variables. I'd like to put together a beginner knit kit with a specific yarn, but allow the customer to choose the color.

That's the way it used to be but under the new - New Item Creation Flow - it is missing. We are Retail Plus Subscriber, not Premium

The biggest issue we have is that we provide a service that requires a selection from one of the variations of [PRODUCT A], and need that inventory to update accordingly, without manually having to go and change the individual stock. Options and Modifiers are great, but aren't what we need, as they don't automatically subtract from the available inventory. Having the Combo function like the Restaurants version would be helpful I think.
