How can I hide prices from sold inventory?

Hello,

I am an artist and want to be able to hide my sold art prices once a piece has sold yet still display the sold item- for multiple reasons:

1) I get commissions based off of past work - so need to post up items...

2) some works are gifts and it's a bit tacky if the recipient can see the amount

3) some prices reflect unframed art - if a customer wants framed art, I have to source that and custom-price and add that in ...so sold prices don't reflect that if a new customer is looking for something similar

3) materials costs increase and my work improves with age (technique, materials, etc)...so if someone commissions a piece based on prior work, prices will likely not be the same

Esp. for Square Admins: Maybe I'm better to move to Shopify altogether if Square can't provide a workaround?

Hi, @annstriniart ! Welcome to the Square Community!

Square Online doesn’t currently have a built-in “hide price but show item” toggle. When an item is marked sold out or unavailable, the last listed price remains visible because the system treats that page as part of your product catalog rather than a portfolio.

Workarounds I've seen artists commonly use:

Duplicate your sold pieces as “Gallery Items”

After an artwork sells, duplicate the listing, remove the price, and rename the item (for example, “SOLD — Ocean Light (Commission Example)”).
Then hide the original, priced version from your shop section but keep this portfolio copy visible.
This preserves the image and description but removes the transaction element.

Create a “Portfolio” or “Past Work” category

Move sold items into a dedicated “Gallery” or “Previous Works” category.
In this category, remove or obscure pricing altogether.
You can still link from product pages (“Interested in a similar piece? Contact me for a quote.”)
