Adding a search option to online store

I've looked through every tutorial I've seen online and still having an issue adding a search option to my online store. I don't have the 'icons' option in the header section. Can anyone tel me where the setting for this is currently located?

Hey @carashea.. It sounds like the Search toggle is turned off in your store page. Go to that page (either "Order Online" or "Shop All"). Click on the "Item List." In the settings pane on the left, scroll down until you see the section "Search." It should be between the "Content" and "Category Titles" sections. Click on "Search and you should see a toggle. Turn it on, and change the color of the search icon if you wish. Then re-publish your site and the search function should be enabled.

Thanks, I'm still not finding it. When I go to that page I get content, category links, title, nothing in between and I'm not seeing a search option. I'm attaching a screenshot of what that left menu looks like for me.

@carashea Ok. I see my confusion. You are using the "Shop All" online store template. I just switched my site to that and just like you I can't find a search button setting. This tells me that there is not one for that template, which is a retail template. My guess (and ONLY a guess) is that because that template has an item filtering, the search function isn't really needed, or at least wasn't considered. I'm going to tag a few retail folks I know for their opinions/input here.

@JTPets @TCSlaguna do you use the Shop All template in your Square Online stores?

Also, @carashea can you reply with the URL of your site?

Our site uses the search icon on the header.

I do not see the ability to search from menus within the Shop All page. Only the header.

Do you use the shop all template? I'm completely fine with search being in the header - as long as it's somewhere on the page!

Thank you, @TCSlaguna.. Can you edit your header (since you have a shop all page, and I don't) and see if that can be toggled on and off? Or is there another setting? I tried it on yours, and sure enough it searches the item catalog! Yay.

@carashea I just looked at @TCSlaguna's site. They are DEFINITELY using the Shop All Template. To enable search icon in your site header, just click on the header in any page. Scroll down to the Icons section at the bottom and turn on the Search icon.

And, FYI, I did a search of @TCSlaguna's site and it found products and services and lots more. It seems to be a global site search.

@TCSlaguna Could you explain or screenshot where to add the search option in the header? I'm just not seeing it but maybe I'm overlooking something obvious?

That's what I've been seeing on the tutorials I've seen, but I don't have an icons item in the header menu. The content menu at the bottom of the header page only has logo and navigation and the only option under navigation is a click box for all caps. I know it's got to be somewhere but I'm so confused. Attaching a screenshot of what that menu looks like for me ....

Weird. So below the bottom of your screen shot is that option on my account (see my screen shot). At the very bottom. If it is not there, then there must be something off with your account. You’ll need to get on the phone with support.
