Ipad mandatory to run a shop with 1500 items?

Been using square through my phone for a few years -- now I'm at a point to add my large inventory to a POS system. Getting a MacAir laptop to help with the business, am I correct that to produce itemized inventory management, I will also have to purchase an ipad?

I also want to get a receipt printer and bar-code reader to help customers check out.

You can use inventory management on a mobile device like an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy!

Although, to use a bar code scanner you will need an iPad, Square Register, or a specific Android tablet.
